students and three-quarters day students. It is accredited by the
North Central Association of Schools and Colleges and the Independent
Schools Association of the Central States in addition to the West
Virginia state accreditation. The wooded campus is located in a residential
section of Woodsdale and includes 19 buildings, numerous playing
fields, and a multi-million dollar sports complex.
Linsly believes the development of a responsible
young man or woman who exhibits a willingness to work, a respect
for authority, and a sense of self-discipline is as important as

- Teacher - Student ratio 1:12
It is the mission of Wheeling Country Day to provide an educational
environment which fosters a lifelong love of learning, a sense of
independence and self-reliance, and the fulfillment of intellectual
potential, while helping children to become responsible citizens.
Wheeling Country Day is located on
a six-acre, park-like campus in a quiet corner of the Woodsdale
neighborhood. It includes classroom buildings, a gymnasium, a library
and a playground and athletic field. Students
may work in the computer lab and enhance their learning on computers
in each classroom and the library. The curriculum includes all
academic areas as well as art, music, Spanish, library skills and
daily physical education. Since the school is attentive to individual
needs, opportunities exist for all students to be challenged and
to succeed. As a result, student standardized test scores exceed
local, state and national norms. Yet learning is not confined to
the classroom at Wheeling Country Day; there are many field trips
at each grade level to extend learning experiences by using local
and regional resources.
