East Ohio Regional Hospital
East Ohio Regional Hospital is a growing facility which has served
the needs of residents of Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia
since 1906. Founded as Martins Ferry Hospital by Dr. R.H. Wilson,
the mission of the hospital remains much the same as that of its
founding father: to offer quality health care while respecting the
rights and wishes of those who are served.
For more than 90 years East Ohio Regional
Hospital has grown with its surrounding communities. Its name change
in 1985 signified the addition of new facilities and an expansion
of services. One of Belmont County's largest employers, East Ohio
Regional Hospital
now employs nearly 600 and offers a variety of state-of-the-art
health care services. More than 175 physicians and dentists make
up the medical-dental staff.
The hospital campus is composed of an
acute care unit and a skilled and intermediate care unit. A newly
expanded medical office building is located adjacent to the main
hospital campus to assure convenience and ease for patients.Additionally,
the East Ohio Professional Center was recently opened in the St.
Clairsville area of Belmont County. This facility provides physician
offices, plus an array of outpatient services in a convenient location
near Interstate 70.
Specialized services offered at East
Ohio Regional Hospital include: 24-hour emergency care, obstetrics
and gynecology, long-term skilled nursing care, intensive care,
diagnostic radiology and neurology services, general surgery and
a complete cardiology service that includes testing, intensive
care and rehabilitation. Surgical subspecialties include vascular,
orthopedic, thoracic, neurological and optical surgeries, as well
as gynecology and urology.
Programs offered at East Ohio Regional
Hospital include: Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapy; Occupational
Health System, a program designed to offer injury treatment, drug
testing and preventive medicine to area businesses and East Ohio
Regional Hospital industry; Hillcrest, which offers professional
psychiatric services including inpatient and outpatient services;
HomeCare, a home health agency; and the Respiratory and Occupational
Lung Disease Clinic, which offers testing and rehabilitation for
occupational lung diseases.
Education and support groups are an
important part of East Ohio Regional Hospital's total commitment
to community awareness and understanding of health care. Support
groups are offered for victims of breast cancer, arthritis, diabetes,
strokes and heart attacks, as well as many others. The hospital
also sponsors a weekly blood pressure clinic, as well as monthly
cholesterol screenings. An Employee Wellness Program has been established
for all employees of the hospital. Employee and community education
programs are offered regularly.
